decline of quality name
The was a time Columbia made nothing but exceptional products but that was decades ago. Over time they started making quality levels, everything from very high end to below budget models. The Silver Ridge model belongs inthat below-budget category but they market and price it in the a mid-to high-mid category. Cheap mesh pockets came unearmed and torn in the first week. Heck the rest pocket isn't even independent, it is a piece of mesh sewn to the seat of the pants. Sit on a rock or rough surface and your guaranteed to tear the stitching and put a hole in the pocket. The overall Materials tear and frazzle easily. Zippers are thin and weak. On the pro side they do still sell these convertable pants in something other than s/m/l/xl and for someone 5'8 on a good day the inseam of the shorts doesn't put the zipper on top of the knees. Waist button is rivitted. I would never even consider buying these again, even at a thrift store.i have purchased cheap Amazon conveyable pants at a third the price and been just as disappointed as I am in these.
