They're exactly as waterproof as you think they'd be. Works for about anything considered wet, and it's not too hard to clean. Small is definitely fine-tuned to people who have a 30 to 32-inch waist and a 32-inch inseam. As a 28x28, the waist wasn't a problem because of the synch around it, but the inseam is quite long. More XS's!
