Did not meet expectations

I live in a hot climate (southern New Mexico) and have been looking for a shirt to wear hiking in the sun to replace my Orvis River Guide shirt (which has unfortunately been redesigned to have an unflattering fit). I had high hopes for this shirt, especially after reading about the Zero Freeze "technology." My gut instinct was that no polyester shirt would be cool to wear in the heat, but I thought I would give it a try (despite the outrageous price). The shirt has a flattering fit and is a beautiful color. But cool it is not. I hike daily in temperatures exceeding 85. This shirt is not comfortable above about 70 degrees. It is stifling like any other polyester hiking shirt I have tried. So that was disappointing. But I thought I would just wear it when it was cooler. (BTW my husband also bought the men's version.) On a recent trip to Durango we both wore our shirts on a hike, wearing backpacks. We both sweated in our shirts and the "cooling" effect was not evident. But at the end of the day, I was shocked to find that the material under one arm of my shirt had puckered weirdly and would not smooth out. My husband's shirt did not do this, despite the fact that he sweats more than me. I hoped the puckering would fall out when I washed it next. It did not. Apparently, it is some kind of flaw in the material. I took photos and contacted Columbia. They sent me a return label and upon examination decided to issue me a refund, which I very much appreciated. I cannot recommend this shirt at all--it is hot to wear, expensive, and failed spectacularly. Why can't outdoor companies make long sleeve lightweight woven shirts made of cotton (or at least a cotton blend, like the Orvis River Guide)???? Nylon and polyester will never be cool fabrics to wear in the heat, at least not where I live. PS The shirt fit "just right" but for some reason I am not able to change it from "runs small" below
