The men's ROC Shorts fit tighter in the hips then traditional Columbia shorts purchased in the past 10 years. Pockets are also too short and allow contents to fall out when sitting.
Ordered these to replace my old 10" rock shorts. For starters the loss of an inch in the length was noticeable to me as I'm tall, but more importantly they don't seem as well made as the old version and looked awful on me. They are really saggy in both the seat of the short and in the crotch.
Love the stretch and the tougher fabric but the cut is a just a little off - they're super straight from the waist to hips which makes them feel tighter through the hips. Not a huge deal but definitely noticeable when you have a flat butt and need a slimmer waist size to help hold the pants up.
Love these shorts. Great fit and true to size. Will order more.
