I bought the rain jacket and pant for my trip to Norway, Iceland, and Antarctica cruises and it turned out to be the most functional ( breathable, no noises, light easy packable, comfortable and excellent in waterproof ). Strongly recommend for rain season backup clothes.

Great waterproof pants. They are waterproof, windproof, & not as "hot" as other/traditional waterproofing methods/materials/fabrics, so, perhaps interpret this to mean they are relatively "breatheable" -- initial impression is they feel like they might be comparable to high-end Gore Tex. Fit as expected based on the details in the listing. Everything is as described except 1 discrepancy: the description says "Weight: 7.76oz...weight based on size Medium, actual weight may vary", but the actual weight on my scale is over 57% (nearly 4.5oz) higher at 12.2oz for the same size Medium, which is arguably a very high variance -- if I wanted to use these pants for backpacking, the weight discrepancy would be a reason for me to return them. Also, it would be nice for Columbia to disclose comparative standardized breathability & waterproofness ratings, assuming doing so does not noticeably increase the price.

DO NOT BUY if exposure to normal trail hazards

Fit, appearance, features (pockets, adjustability, easy on/off), comfort, all good. However, material is soft and my concerns about holding up under actual trail hiking/hazards were not answered by warranty folks. Warranty doesn't cover loss due to misuse/accident. ?? so, sending back. I had cut off tag before my husband pointed out that there was no way the fabric would hold up under real life trail use; return policy said tag had to be attached...when I explained circumstances to customer service, and asked if the tag was enclosed and pants unworn and would be returned in original packing...would there be an issue, the response was, there shouldn't be. We will see.
